4l80E that has been sitting I'm looking at a 4l80e that has been sitting for a while. The owner haven't said 6 to 7 years ...what should I expect. I'm not really wanting to pay for a transmission then tear it down immediately ... Also I am also looking at a fresh fresh built th 350 with a FMVB.... Just looking to see what people think

I don't think anyone wants to buy something to just have to rebuild it. I could only imagine that it is going to need a rebuild though. Is the transmission capped or has it been open to the elements? A quick rebuild kit wouldn't be a bad thing, especially due to the seals probably being shot after sitting that long. Trans fluid left in, or out?

If the trans was sealed from dust, water, etc. it shouldn't be an issue. Let mine sit in my car after pulling the engine for 8 years, at least most of that time was outside In the weather. Last year when I finally decided to do something with the car and got it running, the trans seemed like it never missed a beat. Just my experience...
