4L60E Limp Mode Please Help!!!!
Today I was going to drive to autozone and the car shift really firm really into "R" or reverse. I didn't think was that big of a deal, as I continued to drive the car feels really sluggish as if it was starting into 3 and shifting into 4th and it won't shift 1st and 2nd. I ran the codes; there are 10 different codes and the ones that are related with the transmission are: P0785 & P1860.
P0785: 3-2 Shift Solenoids (or solenoids in general)
P1860: Manufacturer Control Transmission
The car started doing this problem today (the transmission has tranny fluid).
Any ideas? ('99 Trans Am A4)
I just moved the car literally moved the car right now to fix the parking (I was double parked) and the transmission didn't shift hard into reverse like it did this morning. I then decided to drive around the complex to make sure it was driving right; the car shifted fine too and I floored it hard and apparently 1st gear was working again. I guess now is are the solenoids malfunctioning or it's just something else?

It could be the shift solenoids but I would check the easy stuff first. Verify the connector on the trans didn't come loose or the wiring isn't damaged. You could also verify that you have 12V at the connector with the key on. I would start there first to figure out if its an electrical or internal problem.
There are a lot of different things that can cause those codes including mechanical failure or just a bad electrical connection. When I first started my car after the LS1/4l60e swap it threw several trans codes and was in limp home mode...I found that I didn't have the connector seated in correctly. Luckily it was an easy fix for me hopefully yours is too.

Well what were the other codes. Sometimes you have to think outside the box man. Stuff like the maf and knock sensors effect the trans and how it reacts.

Fix the engine codes first. Some engine codes will cause the trans to go into limp mode. You may still need to address the P0785: 3-2 Shift Solenoids code, once all engine codes have been repaired. Address the lowest number codes first, then clear, recheck for codes and go to the next lowest code if any reset.
