Normal Temp Range for Trans w/Big Stall 4L60E?
So, I was data logging in the heat/traffic today and noticed that my trans temp got to 190 degrees per HPTuners. Most of the time if I could get any airflow it was in the 170s.
I have a B&M SuperCooler 70266 Transmission Cooler w/6AN lines running to my FLT Level 6. It's installed in front of my A/C condenser on the radiator, so it should get good airflow. It's the only cooler I have... but it's fairly large 11" x 8" x 1-1/2".
I have a Circle D 2E 4000 stall... and it's pretty loose. Should I try to get a fan installed on the B&M Cooler or is 190 ok?
What range should I be aiming for?

I think 190 is a good temp especially for a stall that big. I remember reading somewhere that around 240 or so is where bad things start to happen to transmission fluid and components. A small electric fan on the front of the cooler itself is also a good idea. I dont think the fluid can get too cool especially in the summer months.

I run 20F cooler, but then Michigan is cooler too.
Gen 2 cars have a bigger radiator and probably better air flow; my trans cooler is about 130 sq in.
I don't have A/C either.
I run a 180F engine thermostat, 1st fan turns on at 190F, second at 200F.
At what temp do your electric fans turn on?

I don't like those temps my self, too high. Can you fit a bigger trans cooler? If so, the TruCool 40k is excellent. Keeps my trans at 135-142 in stop and go in 100 degree temps, will touch 170 hot lapping it at the track.
Same cooler on a 5500 lb AWD sierra 4l60 with circle d 4c temp would touch 190 on back to back dig street runs but then come right back down.
