Default 4l80e tq convertor help

I'm swapping my 99 v6 camaro with an ls motor, trying to figure out which trans I'm gonna run, I'm either going 4l80e or th350. My question is that because my car will be bolt on for a year or so, can I get a small stall 2800 or less, for a 4l80e? I know some big companies make big stalls but I won't be making the power for those right now. And could I have it upgraded to a higher stall later on?

Even the lowliest 4.8l will benefit from 3000+ rpm of stall. We have a budget option for the 4l80 that will support whatever you want to do up to around 500 rwhp. Best part is you get to use a standard 4l60 dished style of flexplate rather than sourcing a flat 6.0 one to run a standard 4l80 converter. We offer a trade in on our converters too, so if you have one, but want to upgrade later that's not a problem. Besides weight and cost the 4l80 is clearly the better choice for a street car than a th350.

So if I have a bolt on lq9, I could run a higher -3200ish stall and I wouldn't be missing my power band?

This is correct. Much better than a massive factory 4l80 converter.

Part number or price for this budget option? What about those of us with the the flat flexplate that matches the stock 80 converter?

You will need to source an LS 3 bolt style of flexplate and the shorter crank bolts. These are pretty common used, or we carry an SFI certified one for $150 and new gm bolts for $20. Part number is 06-07-07-2A. Here it is on our site:

https://www.circledspecialties.com/p...converter.aspx

If you have the flat flexplate on anything but the long crank engines, we can do some additional machining on the converter and you can drill your flex plate out for the smaller bolt pattern. This is obviously by request only, but a possibility.

Thanks, never saw that on the site but it's been a long while since I've looked for a converter. Will definitely keep you guys in mind when I have some money to spend.

If you are going to swap in a 4l80e someday it will cost you. You will need a conversion harness, You will have to download a truck file in the LS1 Computer unless you install a truck computer to Run the 4l80e. Midwest chassis makes the conversion cross member that you will need. You might also need to alter the length of your driveshaft. You will also need to run special Trans Fluid fittings. You will also need to cut the bell housing if you run headers for clearance. You will then need to use HP Tuners to program the computer.
You will also need to cut or pound out your trans tunnel to make more clearance that is needed for the electrical connections on the side of the 4l80e.

Its a Big Job. alot of work & it will cost you a lot of money.
