Default I Need Opinions On a Converter for Turbo Car

Im putting together a turbo s10 weighing roughly 3,000 lbs with a stock 5.3 216/220 cam, 9:1 comp.

Still shopping for a turbo but leaning towards the s480 with future 4" crank swap in mind.

Truck is running an 8.8 rear with 373s and mickey Thomson 295/50/15 radials.

I was originally planning on building a tranny but I just stumbled across this setup on cl and the buyer seems legit:

400 Turbo trans. It has a deep pan, coan trans brake, JW Ultra Bell bell housing, reverse manual, and custom built high HP billet Converter.

He's got 4 passes on it with low street miles. fluid still in it and he's asking quite a bit less than what I could build it for.

Its running a 3500 stall built for his 500ish C.I. bb car weighing 3,300is lbs.

My question is how well do you think this stall will work with my setup ?

Truck also has anti-lag as I was originally planning on foot brake and 4000 stall. Let me know your thoughts..

My thoughts are a converter designed to stall 3500 rpm behind 500+CI and more weight will be too tight behind your 5.3 and lighter truck. Any pictures?

Brian, do you think it would stall more in the 3200 range?

However, the OP wants to add a turbo; wouldn't he want to go to a lower stall speed with a turbo?

Lets say the same converter behind the 8+ liter motor was used behind the 5.3. If it flashed 3500 rpm behind the big block, I'm thinking the 5.3 would be working hard to make it go to 2800. There's obviously lots of variables here like torque curves, gearing, tires, weight etc. Who's to say the 3500 converter is actually a 3500 behind that big block? It could really be going 4000+ in real life rather than the advertised 3500. Hopefully that made sense.

If I were to spec a converter for a street/strip S10 it would be no lower than 3600 rpm. An 80mm turbo with a small cube motor needs high rpm to spool properly.

Thanks Brian, that's my main concern. If it were a few hundred rpm shy of 3500 I could live with it for the time being. But 700 shy and I'd have a dog waiting for the turbo to hit.

Here's a couple shots of the setup. No look at the internals so I'm somewhat going off his word but the seller seems like a legit guy with a legit shop. He's asking $1,000 for everything.

Worst case scenerio, I pick it up and its stalling well below where I need it. Can I send the converter back out to get loosened up or am I looking at an entirely new setup ?
