Default 4l60e metal in valve body bore?

I have recently started my rebuild of my 2001 Camaros 4l60e transmission. I lost my 3-4th gears so I decided to do a rebuild. Upon my tear down I noticed in the valve body right above where the servo goes that their is metal melted in to the corner of one of my bores. I have looked all over the Internet and have not found anything like this. I will include a picture. I would like to know if this is a problem, fixable, or if I need a new case. Also if anyone could tell me what could have caused this to happen. I would really appreciate your help.

That looks like a chuck of something broke off and got lodged there. Can you pry it loose?
