Default Th350 or 4l65e?

I am gathering parts for an LS swap into a Jeep, I currently am running a th350 with a SBC. I would swap converters if i keep the TH350 but its a 2400-2800 rated stock sized converter. I have a low mile (12k) 4l65e from a H2 that I would swap in if I do the swap, trying to decide if I should swap or keep the TH350.

For an idea of the engine i will be running I am trying to decide which one for sure but have a stock ls6 with milled heads and have a 224/228 and 232/234 eps cam (but also have a 6.0 that I have been thinking about building into a 408.)

I have been researching mods to help a 4l60/65e survive and had been reading a lot of information on trans go hd2 shift kit, however recently have seen some posts saying that it is not very good. I have read about upgrading to corvette servos but have read the newer transmissions (4l65e) already have them. Any suggestions on what mods to help it (without a complete tear down of trans) will be appreciated.

Jeep is used for street driving/cruising in summer, sand dunes, snow, occasional trip to drag strip and sand drags. Advantages i see with the 4l65e are lower first gear, overdrive and lockup converters.

For what its worth I have seen some mild built gen 1-2 trans like the TH400/350 live through some pretty substantial abuse. The only down fall is lack of over drive, but my dad had a Built TH350 in a old c10 with 3:55's and it didn't tack to bad for driving around town, and it put up with some abuse, the 60-65E's in my opinion are a great option to build if you want to spend some coin, but TH350-400's live through more abuse per dollar in my opinion.

Go with the 4l65e, if you have everything to make it work. You'll thank yourself in the long run, as OD is great to have. The 65e should already have 5-pinion planetaries in it, so I'd just put in a SmartShell from Sonnax, and an HD2 shift kit. The "vette" servo should already be in it, IIRC.

It will be time consuming to do the above, but not too expensive overall.

I've used the Hd2 kit before, with great results. On this latest build though, I had PBA put one together for me with other parts. You might consider contacting him through here.
