4L60e or 4L80e for a 70 vet what will fit
Will the 4l80e trans fit a 1970 corvette with a stock tranny tunnel or will the 4l60e trans fit with no mod's to the tunnel .
The car has a built 427 with a tremec 5 speed in it now but its time to go auto with a trans brake.
Thanks Mike

A 4L60E will fit, A 4L80E will require some "Glass" work for the electrical connector (Makes me itch just thinking about it). Slip yoke clearance is real tight, And you have to build a crossmember. I may be forgetting something....Been awhile since I installed a 80E in a C3.
Over 500 ft. lbs..... 4L80E for sure. Putting that through a 60E may work for a while, But you will break it eventually. I will work with C5/C6 guys on periodic "refreshing" of their 60E's because they don't have a "Easy-Out" like you do.

Head on over to the Corvette forum,a few threads can be found on the 4L80E,I have a couple of C3's so I was curious. As usual clinebarger has it right, just a few tweaks to get it in there.
