M6 to A4 swap 4L60 or 4L80?
I'm planning on swapping the M6 from my 98 Trans Am in favor of a stalled auto.
Question I'm trying to figure out is: go 4L60E or 4L80E?
Can someone shed light on the pros and cons ? Remember, I asked for it so don't hold back .

For a daily driven "Bolt-On only" car, 4L60E all day long.
If you have bigger plans down the road far as horsepower & torque, A 4L80E is a better choice.

Thanks guys, I need to do a lot more research on M6 to 4L80 E conversions .
I have a 80 in my Race car ( F1a Procharged Z28) but it's a manual shift and manual lock up set up and that's not what I want for the Trans Am .
Also I bought the car set up already, so anything to do with the 4l60-4l80 swap was done by the previous owner not me.
Now I want to ditch the stick and go auto in my other car that's more of a daily, fun ,summer type car.

If I could do it over (which i guess i can) I would go 80. I did an m6-a4 swap and found a guy with a Trans Am that wanted the opposite so we swapped everything and it was a great deal.
I now have about 900whp with a turbo and still the rocking the 4l60e. Its a level 7 from FLT with a trans brake and its been working great for over 5 years, havent even changed fluid.
But that being said I have a lot of money in it. I could have built an 80 for about the same.

I found a 140,000me 4l80e out of a 2000-2001 truck.
Sourced most of the other pieces needed: console, shifter, pedals etc
All for approx $850.
Now still need to find a wire harness to go from M6 to 4L80e , a PCM to put the truck bin file in , flywheel, convertor and shift cable.

I did the M6 to 80e swap on my last twin turbo setup. If I could have done it over, I would have just went with a level 5 RPM 4l60e. Reasons are lighter weight, plenty strong enough for what I wanted (600+rwhp) and less expensive when you factor in the extras needed for the swap.
If I was shooting for 750 or more I would go 80e.
