B&M deep pan......

I ran a TCI deep pan for quite a while. Don't know how the TCI pan compares to the B&M pan as far as depth. I'm stock height and it was still an area of concern due to how it was the lowest part underneath. I ended up fracturing it and it began to seep fluid in the fractures. Could have been catastrophic had it been broken instead of fractured. Cast aluminum has no strength to resist the impact weight of the vehicle when touching a speed bump.

It's funny you say that... I too (years ago) had a lowered 00Z28 w the B&M pan... I seemed fine as I recall... I made a uturn over one of those turtle shell speed bumps and fractured mine....
I wonder about the truck pans.....?

The only advantage to a deep aluminum pan was having a drain plug to prevent the mess of dropping a regular pan. There are a few threads recommending a truck pan because they're stamped steel. Why are you concerned about running a deep pan since you're gonna have a cooler ? I'm currently back to running the OEM pan.

Some members with 500HP+ have noted slippage during shifts with the stock pan because it appears the fluid pickup get uncovered. Their solution is to overfill the trans by 1/2 quart. The truck pan with 1 quart more capacity is known to solve this.
I run a +1 quart aluminum pan. Avoid any chrome plated pans as the chrome deteriorates over time and then causes leakage. Any +2 quart pan will sit too low to be safe.
Sorry, but there are plenty of negative posts about the Derale pan, including this one:

Let me clarify, I dont believe their marketing BS. That being said, this pan is steel, it will dent before crack, it holds more fluid, and it has a sending unit bung already and being steel is easily repaired or altered. It also retains use of a stock filter depth. Win win win. I dont give two craps about what some jerk says about how his temps skyrocketed and tries to blame the pan. He is a moron. I bought it for the reasons stated above AND I did see my temps drop slightly. Ive been monitoring trans temps on this car with a digital gauge for 7 straight years. I may know a thing or two about its patterns.

^^^ Gotcha.
I would not expect it to cool much, if at all, and certainly not an alternative to a real cooler. You obviously had realistic expectations that it fully satisfied.
Since its spec is 2+ quarts, doesn't it sit rather low though?

I have a pic of it somewhere. Obviously I was a little worried about that. I remember looking and noticed the trans pan is higher then most everything else when stock, now its about even. Problem is if you rub the underside of the car it will likely be towards the middle of the car and there are no wheels there to ride over the bump. So yeah I think about it but no issues as of yet. I admittedly don't drive my car often so I'm not the best example.

A factory deep pan is $20, .
I have seen to many Cast pans get busted on F-bodies to recommend running one.
