Default 4L60e rebuild help for 4x4

I have been doing a lot of research on 4l60e trannys but I am still as confused as when I started researching. I am building a 4L60 to go behind a pretty much stock 5.3. It will be going in a Landcruiser FJ60 4x4 with a crawler box behind it. I am looking for something reliable and that will hold up to crawling. What upgrades would everyone reccommend and what rebuild kit. Any help would be great.

It's going to depend on your budget, I would assume a crawler box is just gear reduction. If that's the case it should be easier on the trans but cooling would be an issue since you won't have much air flowing across a trans cooler if you aren't moving very fast. So better clutches and a very nice cooler/fan combo. Here is one thread I found that should give you an idea of what you could do if it's in your budget. https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...arts-list.html

What would eveyone reccommend as a stall. I dont want to run through my brakes with the crawl box. I will be running a big cooler with a fan on it. Thanks again

With a stock 5.3 I'm not sure why you would want anything other than stock or near stock stall. I have a 4x4 and when in the low side the stock stall works just fine. A higher stall is just going to produce more heat and make it even more jerky when trying to apply power. I would think you would want power to apply as smoothly as possible.

You might go to a dedicated crawler forum and see what everyone else is using.

I think that LLLosingit is giving good advice - follow the https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...arts-list.html thread and stick with a stock converter.

I ended up calling up Jeff at TruTech and he set me up. Thanks for the help.
