4L80e, no reverse.
Drivetrain swapped into older vehicle. Put in a cam etc. The vehicle has been in the build process for a couple of years and just moving under it's own power for about a year and a half. No road driving but twice, from the house to the gas station. Finally getting ready to get the truck road ready. Took the truck to a reputable tuner (not questioning his skills at all). I went to pick up the truck a couple days later. I drove the truck off the dyno to load onto the trailer... no hotrodding.... went to back up to align myself to get on the trailer, trans felt like it engaged but did nothing.
From reading...
The tuner used third gear to tune... means one thing is good
In 1st gear manual I am able to move.. means something else is good
Reading and a couple friends suggestions suggest the reverse servo may have too short of a pin and/or a cracked piston.
The too short of pin I think would have some other issues leading up to this but never had an issue shifting into reverse before.
So I am asking for opinions... trans shops around here just say rebuild it... which is a last resort
Thoughts?
edit trans is out of a 2001 Suburban if that makes a difference
