Default Please let me know if this is normal? Performa stage 1 / yank3600ss

Ok this is whats going on with my pb stage 1 / yank 3600ss ( 650 miles on both) ive noticed i have a slight slip when i first take my car out for a ride. It happens when i come to a complete stop then take off like regular. This will usely happen until my trans is at approx 100 degrees or higher. After that it will not have that slight slip. Before i take my car out i always let it warm up for a min of 5 mins. Other then that the trans/coverter work great! I broke both in properly! Trans fluid is up to level! This is my first stall so i have no idea if this is normal or not? Plz advise!

Please explain the slip. Does it just take more RPM to get the car moving?

No on rpm. My first stall but i know how they work. Not trying to be smart best way i can describe slight slip is like u quick put it car in neutral then drive . After i drive it around for say 10 mins it doesnt do the "slip" thing. Not sure if this is normal until trans fluid is warm? Thx

You talking like when you stop at a stop sign or something it will do a quick slip in first only then engage?

Mailorder tune from frost. Just weird it only seems to happen when trans isnt fully warmed up. If it was in the tune woundnt it happen all the time?

Tho I do not think it's a tune issue I don't know what it is either.

Couple seasons ago I had a shop rebuild my transmission, put my ss3600 in, had it tuned and it would do the same thing. I did notice if I took a longer pause when stopping it would not do it.

That rebuild went out last fall and this spring I rebuilt my own transmission this time. Had the converter cut and cleaned and had it retuned and tweaked a bit. I have about 500+ miles on this build and have not noticed the first gear quick slip.

I really would like to know what the cause of it was/ is as well.

Just got off the phone with frank from PB( hes always there to answer your questions). He said it sounded like its trying to take off in 2nd then going back to 1st . Recommended me to do tranny service and while im in there remove both shift solenoids and check there screens for any sort of blockage. So i will do that this weekend. Worth a shot!

If your going to do a service on the trans I also recommend cleaning the lines and cooler.

I'm only dropping the pan/ changing filter/inspecting noids as per Franks instructions. Lines were cleaned and cooler was new when trans/yank was installed 600 miles ago. It has deeper truck pan on it. Fluid is up to correct level on oem dip stick. Maybe a little high. Should the level check be the same with the deeper truck pan? Wonder if fluid level is playing a part in this?

Yes, the dipstick is still accurate no matter what pan you have on there. Fill on the high side

If you ask me if we were having the same symptoms, which it sounds like we were, it's more of a neutral then engage to first. I do not think it's attempting to go in second then quickly shifting to first imo

Ya I'm no tranny expert but it doesn't sound like it to me either. But I'll do as instructed and go from there. Thx for the dip stick info. How high on the high side?

Also do you remember if that little slip got worse or stayed the same over time? Any symptoms before trans went out? Thx
