Check fluid level, then give us more information so we can try do help diagnose whats going on. You didn't give us much to go off of.

As stated above would need more info, However shift timing is totally controlled by the PCM / COMPUTER . But some possible issues could be faulty TPS (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR) .VSS (VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ) Does speedometer work?
And of course scanning for codes is always the first move.

Thank you for responding I'm really stumped so it's hold trans fluid at right level so the car sat for about 22months and all the fuses and batterie was disconnected so I put fuses and batterie in and it starts up sounds good hold fluid but the shifting is the problem it has reverse I put it in drive it goes fine until it's time to shift to 2nd I have to get it to 4500rpm or higher to shift to 2ND and if I don't keep it high it drops back down to 1St but once I get it past 2ND 3&4 will work at high rpm it down shifts fine but not really overdrive I put the stock stereo back in thinking that could be the problem cause it reprogramme the computer. Help I don't want to rebuild unless I have too

Does the speedo work ? if not that would be your problem. Beyond that a TPS comes to mind .

How about something other than one big run on sentence.
