Default What trans temp are u getting with Yank SS400?

Just trying to see what type of trans temperatures others are getting with this converter. Mine is running prety hot, so I want to see if others are experiencing this as well. Mine used to get over 230 with a 18000 cooler, but now with the 24,000 it doesnt get any higher than like 224 degrees. The cooler is mounted infront of the radiator. So anyone else has the same converter, or a similar one, please let me know what the temperature as shown by autotap, is at? thanks

wow! those temps are HIGH. i would definately look into a deeper pan, and a 28K cooler, and a fan switch. if you keep runnin like that you will indefinately start breaking things in the trans.

as stated that is WAYYYY to hot.

get the biggest cooler you can find or run a second cooler in series with the first and get a fan switch or at least use a hypertech or edit or something to set ur fan temps lower. your car should have a tough time getting up as high 210* under abuse. normal driving should be WAY under 200.

i have a trans temp gauge and though my stall is lower, its not by that much (true stalls at 3800). my temp hovers at around 160 degrees in normal mixed highway and city driving. beating on it for awhile got me as high as 180. im sure a trip to the track would get me to 200 but nowhere near where u r.

BTW: my setup is a 19-22K cooler, a BBK +3 quart deep, finned pan and hypertech fan settings for a 160* thermostat (fans on around 170 or so i think).

Those temps are way way to high. You are cooking the tranny.

I would check for some sort of blockage in your system.

1) follow offaxis's suggestion
2) Make sure your cooler is getting the fluid AFTER it has gone through your radiator. Otherwise it is being heated by the radiator.

160 t-stat and matching fan settings would help.

My temps with that converter and a fairly small cooler are usually in the 180-190 range with maybe 210 or so with repeated abuse at the track. This is with 423 RWHP. I run a 160 thermo and of course lowered fan settings.
