Default What kinnd of custom converter is needed for long crank lq4 and 4l60e?

I recently picked up an lq4 short block that needs to be rebuilt that has the longer 99-00 crank, and I also have a spare crank that is the shorter 01+ version. If go with the long crank since that is the original piece, what kind of converter do I need to get my 4l60e to work?

What year is your 4L60? if its 98 or older then you need the 298mm style converter or equivalent such as our SRLT series converters. If its 99 and newer you're going to need a 300mm style converter or equivalent like our SRLS series converter with a short pilot for the long crank.

feel free to call the shop or shoot me a message if you have any questions!

Then you'll need the SRLS (300mm) style converter for the 99 and up style 4L60E converter with a cut down pilot to fit the crank. If you would like to. fill out one of build sheets at the link below and we can get this converter built for you! We can also build the converter to fit your flex plate as well.

Cool, thanks for the info. So would it be better to use the dished 60e flexplate I have in my car now, or a flat 80e flexplate?

Since you have the long crank you have to use the flat flex plate for correct spacing.

Yes, you need the flat flexplate to properly engage the starter.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to talk with my engine builder to see if he'll use the short crank so I can use my existing converter/flexplate, if not, I know I have options.

The long crank is an odd-ball; it was intended to work with the 4L80E trans.
Switching to a short crank might be better long term; make sure it is 24x.

That's what I figured, I have the 24x 01+ crank as well so I'm hoping I can use that instead with the stock rods and pistons.

If you end up going with the short crank a normal LS style 4L60 converter will be perfect! no need for a cut down pilot
