Default Anyone use a 13 pin 4L65 trans in a 15 pin 4L70 vehicle?

I have a level 7 RPM trans in my 07 classic (same thing as an 06) silverado that I have been thinking about pulling and putting into my 06 TBSS. Both are 2wd, but the truck trans is a 4L65 with the 13 pin connector, and the Trailblazer has the 15 pin connector. I was wondering if anyone has ever used a 4L65 trans in a 15 pin vehicle? I'm curious if the two wire difference for the speed sensor is actually NEEDED because of other parts of the trans, or if you could use a 4L65 trans table with a segment swap in HP tuners and the computer would ignore the need for that output from the trans.

Basically......I have an 06 Trailblazer SS with one computer that runs the engine and transmission just like my 07 classic truck does.......can I have someone tune the truck with a 4L65 file and the trans that I already have after a copy and paste job......or do I need to have the trans refreshed and rebuilt as a 4L70 with the different pump, sensor and harness? I am curious because there is the common practice of the 4L80 segment swap, and that in newer cars would be asking the computer to "ignore" the need of a few newer sensors.......

As far as I know all of the newer vehicles with separate engine ECM and transmission TCM need the Input Speed Sensor (ISS). Members active in the Tuning section have tried but never succeeded in disabling the codes and problem when ISS is missing.

If your TBSS has a single PCM, I am not sure about the ISS requirement.
However, the "guideline" is that if your vehicle came with an ISS version of the 4L60e/4L70e, then you will need to replace it with one that also has ISS.

Thank you for the info man, after seeing all of the 4L80 swaps being done to newer vehicles I thought that I would ask.

A '06 Trailblazer has a separate TCM (T42) & IIRC a E67 ECM.

All 4L80E's have an ISS, So you can't really compare those too a non-ISS 4L60E.

'06 & '07 4L60E/4L65E are at least half way set-up for the ISS sensor.
The Input Shaft has the "Reluctor"
The Stator Support has the revised Reverse Input Circuits.
The Pump Cover is machined for the shorter Boost Valve & Clearanced for the ISS Connector.

The Pump Cover may or may not be drilled for the Sensor, Some Covers had a Dummy Plug & some were never drilled, The only way to know for sure is to pull the Pump. If it has a Dummy Plug, All you need is the Sensor & Harness.
If not Drilled.....You will need a Pump Cover also. (Swap the Boost Valve & PR Spring!)

Thank you (again!) for the detailed info Clinebarger.
I thought the '06 TBSS had separate TCM and ECM, which would require a ISS trans, and was therefore confused by the OP's first post.

I kept thinking the 06 TBSS trucks had a different ECM/TCM set up than the 07/08/09 trucks. I kept thinking the difference was that it only had one computer, when it was probably a different ecu/tcm part number or type.
Thank you for the info, and setting me straight with the internal info to the trans.
