80E parking brake yoke removal
Ok guys I removed the bolt from the yoke to tailshaft and the 4 bolts from the drum to the yoke.
I pulled in the brake lever and tied off so the shaft/drum spins freely.
The whole thing moves about a 1/2" outward then stops.
I don't know what to do next.
Is the drum supposed to be removed 1st?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Chris

Wow, 160 views and nobody's ever taken apart a 80E with a brake! LOL
I just don't want to brake something in the trans by removing the drum/yoke the wrong way.
It does move outwards just a .5" and then stops.
I'm guessing this is the o ring ?
Should I put the yoke bolt in without the washer and use a puller to remove it?

I was going to say last night just tap it with a hammer.
I took one of those and just put a regular ext housing on it, seems the output shaft is 3/4 inch longer than a regular slip yoke output.

Yeah I tapped it with the piano fine tuning tool a few times and back n forth and I really had to compress the brake lever to get the shoes in then it popped out!
It's going to be rebuilt so the correct shaft/tail housing will be installed then.
This is for my sons Malibu with a 406 too.
In the future!!!!
