Default 1994 4L60E Input shaft spline count vs. everything after....

I think I'm finally figuring this out, but it has taken a lot of digging....maybe I don't know the correct way to ask the question. Here's what I'm hoping to confirm with everyone's input:

Will the Torque converter hub on a P.I. Vigilante, that is meant for a 1994
4L60E, "fit" on an 2003 4L60E input shaft? Is the spline count and shaft
diameter the same, year over year? Input shaft only is what I'm wondering
about. I simply want to swap a 1994-96 4L60E compatible aftermarket
converter in a 2003 4l60E. I know the flexplate would need to be
swapped/modded, as well the flexplate adapter, pilot extender sleeve, etc.
to make up for the "short crank" difference. All that makes sense, I'm just
unsure about T.C. Hub dimensions compatibility to input shaft....Thanks
for helping with a noob question!

MOST 98-older 4L60s are the LT style/700R4 type input splines. where as MOST of the 99-newer 4L60s are the LS style splines. So to answer your question... the converter will not fit in the newer 4L60E.

Okay, dang it. That was the info I needed clarification on. Thank you!

If GM had changed the part number to e.g. 4L62E when they introduced the 300mm LS-style 4L60E in '98, it would have eliminated about half the confusion on this forum.

Oh man....THAT would've been a perfect solution! I mean, it really IS a pretty big change(definitely enuff to change a part # around). Output shaft info is pretty easy to read up on. Input shaft definitely a little fuzzier....

Thanks.
