Sounds like the perfect setup for a 4th gen. I really want to find more info about it if possible

The description of "It features five-pinion gear sets, heat-treated stator shaft splines, induction hardened turbine shaft, an 8-friction-plate 3-4 clutch, and specially calibrated valve body" makes it sound like a higher end model from any of our sponsors. Get billet input and output shafts for an even stronger trans. Don't know if the GMP 4L75E uses the Sonnax input drum (or equivalent) but that is highly recommended for 600+ ft/lbs.

So this is basically just an upgraded 60/70e. The article kinda read like they were trying to make a smaller sized 80e alternative.

I am still not finding any other info aside from the link I posted. Did anything else get said about this transmission or is it all marketing hype?

That transmission was reveled this week in SEMA show,is too new for more information about it. Probably GMPP should post more information after the show.

What was confusing me were all the sites listing 75e rebuild kits and such. I couldn't tell if this was an all new design where they somehow shoved 80e-esque internals into a 60/70e case or if it was just a gm upgraded 70e with standard internals.

I looked at the second link already after seeing it in a YouTube clip gm performance did. That first link offered up a little additional info though. Especially mentioning what controller to use.

As mrvedit mentioned this trans would not be much different than a sponsored built trans. It's still a 4l60e just with some stronger parts, not a 4l80e squished into 4l60e housing. I don't see this transmission changing anything other than you being able to buy a slightly stronger 4l60e directly from GM instead of a sponsor. 4L80e is still an inherently better design as it's a strait through design with almost 2x the clutch surface area.
