Default driveshaft length questions

Planning a th400 swap in my 99 z28 this winter. Next season plan is ford 9 inch swap. Is there any way to spec a driveshaft or use the same driveshaft for both. Will be spraying and launch transbrake with 9 inch

I know this thread is old but no one replied to your question. A 9 inch typically requires a one inch longer driveshaft to have enough engagement into the transmission. Bob

You're welcome. The 10 and 12 bolt take the same length, not sure on the others but I believe they are a different length. Bob

My suggestion is to raise the car up with jackstands under the differential tubes, crawl under it with your cell phone and tape measure, and then call the driveshaft company and ask them exactly what to measure. Some measure to the front of the yoke, others to the middle.
Also the measurement depends upon whether the rear suspension is compressed. Typically they want it compressed (e.g. jack stands under the differential tubes, not under the frame) as a level-compressed state will be the shortest distance.

There is a 1" longer than typical pinion yoke available for the 9" ford centers, so it will bring your driveshaft length back to the same as it was with the stock 10-bolt.

Google ' ford 9 inch long yoke '
