Default Has anyone swapped a yank for an FTI?

Just wondering has anyone here swapped aftermarket stalls only and got a gain?
I'm looking to swap my 3600SS yank with a 2.5 STR for a 3800 FTI triple disc with a 2.35 STR built for nitrous. I know being able to lock up the FTI will give me a little ET and about 3 mph maybe but I just wanted to see if anyone already done something close to this.

thanks

Yes I swapped my yank 3600ss for a FTI 3800....Converter was so loose car lost 65rwhp on the dyno and several 10ths at the track they made two attempts to tighten it up for me. Finally got fired of screwing around with them bought another Yank this time a PAS 3400 car made a big number on the dyno and performed very well at the track..It was a very expensive lesson switching to the FTI

I switched from a Yank SS3600 to a CircleD 3600 Triple-Disk. It is very tight on the street (like the Yank) and with proper tuning does seem to give me some improvement at the drag strip. My real reason for the triple disk was to keep it locked for road course racing, but now I have other cars for that.

In any case, very happy with the CircleD converter, but I was also very happy with the Yank SS3600. I have no experience with FTI, but greatly appreciate how helpful they have been on this forum recently.

Yea my yank has worked very well over the years too but since I added the nitrous I think I could Benifit from a lock up. I hear great things about circle d but I think I'm stuck on FTI, it seems more guys with the 6l80 use them. We tried locking the yank just for some dyno runs and it was slipping terribly (about 600 rpm off at 4900).

Fas, If we didnt pick your car up or you are not happy with the converter please return it. we have a money back guarantee. As far as making less power on the dyno,Did they run it with the clutch locked?. This is the way they should be dynoed. It is odd that it would loose 2 tenths at the track without there being a problem. The 6391 is typically very fast, particularly on nitrous. They do not have the best daily driving characteristics. What was your combination? Which part number do you have?6391? Give me call a holler at the shop 1-386-736-5816.

The converter is long gone I wasn't offered a money back guarantee just another send it back on your dime and we will mess with it again I had enough this was 3 years ago car was on jack stands all summer messing with the converter. First trip to Dyno it made 356 was sent back to be tightened up made 376 went to track it was slow...Sent it back again this time it made 406 still didn't perform the way I knew it should..Didn't even try to spray the car..Called again got the send it back on your dime again...I said screw it ordered the YANK car made 428rwhp and ran 11.20s at the track na on spray it runs bottom 10s ...Sold the FTI don't know what happened to it. You guys did always answer the phone and we're willing to try but it just didn't work in my car..Would have loved my money back..Live and learn I won't run anything but a YANK from now on
