Default 4l60e vs 4l80e

New to the forum. I have a 86 c10 with a 6.0 lq9 swap. 408 stroker. Has a 228/232 Texas speed cam, headers, exhaust, aluminum heads. This is my daily driver with the occasional street race. I have 3.08 gears right now but plan on putting 3.73 soon. Right now I have a 4l60e. My question is should I just build up this 60 a little or go for the 4l80e. I want to make either tranny full manual shift with a manual valve body. Which transmission should I go with?

If you're going manual shift, why not go with a TH400?
The ONLY good parts about a 4L60e is electronic control and overdrive. Once you convert it to manual shift you basically have a manual 700r4.

I use a 4L80 with a reverse manual valve body from Extreme Automatics. No wires, no hassle and it is very strong. Best trans I have had in my car yet. I don't use overdrive around town, but it is awesome on the highway.

Speed , does your 80e use a vacuum modulator to control pressure or does the rmvb not need it?
Do you lock up your circle D in 3rd on those passes?
I just installed a 80e with a 245mm 5C triple in my Nova with a compushift 1 and love it.
Haven't ran it yet tho...

No vacuum controls on my 4L80. I have a single disk and I do not lock it up under WOT.

Sorry to get off topic to the OP.

Fixed line pressure. It is not really harsh driving around though.

It has an HR Parts N Stuff ARB already. But, that unit is designed to flex for the street. They obviously did not have 900 HP in mind when they designed it.
