Default 4l65e 1-2-R only

so heres the deal, swapped in an 02 5.3 into my jeep backed with an 03 4l65e from a 6.0l escalade.

driving down the road it will rev to about 3500rpm and only shift after letting completly off the throttle and will not shift beyond 2nd

there are no transmission related trouble codes

fluid is the proper level
i've ohmed out the shift solenoids, they are with in range
1-2 accumulator spring and housing are in good working shape
all wires from the pcm have continuity
vss is reading properly

what are yalls thoughts on whats going on here?
also the 4l65e should be controlled just fine with the 4l60e wiring right? as far as i know the 4l65e is electronically the same as the 4l60e and should plug-in/bolt up with out issue

Yes controlled the same, Ok first find out of it can make a 2-3 shift , Unplug harness and manual shift 2-3 you will not be able to get manual 1 or 4th If ok there plug harness back in then check TPS as it can cause the condition you mention making controller/pcm think you are at WOT If you have some sort of scanner or software it should show TPS ACTIVITY.

ok so i unplugged the trans connector and tried the manual shift, nothing. unplugged the maf, still nothing.

found out with a couple tweaks i can veiw the curent gear with the torque scanner app. scanner shows it going into all 4 gears but its lugging into 2 when the pcm is showing the 3-4 shift. but never gets beyond 2

If you don’t have 3rd gear with the trans connector unplugged it is an internal problem, not an electrical problem.

hey every one, just wanted to let every one know what was wrong with the trans:

the 2-4 band was worn out, it caused damage to the reverse input drum. and the 3/4 clutches were toast.

had it rebuilt and its all good now
