Default Tranny Question

My friend rachel has a 01' honda acord four dour sedan with 20k on the clock. When you sit on a hill fully stopped and take your foot off the brake it rolls back and stalls out. I know this is not right

Also the rpm gauge needle sort of hops and drops when the accelerator is released. The tranny shifts just fine except some times it slips when going from a stop for a split second.

What is wrong with the tranny?-i'm pretty sure it will need rebuilt but any help is appreciated.

Some automatics do this. As the vehicle starts to go backwards, the input shaft starts to turn in the other direction, thereby bringing the stall down, then when low enough, will eventually kill the motor.
