To find out what you should be turning involves calculating final drive ratio, tire size, engine RPM, etc....

Any easier way is to drive in 4th, keep steady on the gas, lightly accelerating and with the other foot, tap on the brake pedal enough to turn the brake lights on. If your RPMs flare up 300+ RPM, then it was locked. If they don't change, then it may not be locking up.

If you have Datamaster or any other data logging software, you can monitor TCC Slip speed.

the converter locks up most, but not all, of the time in 4th. You have a stock converter so the slip is not huge when unlocked.

TCC Slip as read with a scantool/data device will vary w/ engine load when unlocked. At light cruise, it may only show 200 RPM under moderate load, it can show 600+ RPM.

0 RPM is locked, for all converters.

I run about 2500 at 80MPH, 3.23 gears, locked up.
Logging TCC slip on a road trip last week, it slips
a lot more when hot. I have a trans cooler and a
"160" 'stat and low-turnon fan settings but the ECT
and trans temps were both pushing 200F with the
A/C on, in Georgia.
