Do you have to lift off gas to shift a TH400, like a manual? Or is that why you have the benefits of an auto with the benefits of a manual all in one?

what about street/hwy driving, lets say from a 40mph roll and you wanna go WOT - do you just drop it down a gear and let her rip at the same time. or even passing somone on the freeway. if so, what if your timing is off between your foot and shifting - kaboom??
or are roll races out of the question with a TH400

a turbo 400 will basically do wtf you want it too. It is a badass transmission. I had several on 1st-2nd gen firebirds and NEVER had a single problem.

cablebandit is right do wtf you want with it i like mine because i can put it in first drive and let the rpm's climb then let off and in 1st the trani will not re-engage until you hit the rpm's you stopped at so in other words it basically stalls till you hit that rpm so it jumps hard when you nail it

If you have a manual valvebody, yes. If not, no.
