Default Why buy a scattershield?

Because of this:

Passenger Side:

Driver's Side:

This is what we found inside the glovebox. Yes it cut through the floor, through the bottom plastic panel and landed conveniently in the glovebox.

The TH400 transmission blew apart due to misshifting and pieces went everywhere. The big metal chunk you see looks to be part of the forward drum.

Very lucky that no one was hurt in this incident. As you can see the driver's side was also torn up and lucky nothing shot directly to the left. The driver's side header had a chunk sent through it and numerous other plastic parts, heater core, etc. were taken out also.

It is unfortunate that this car took so much damage, but we will repair it back to 100% working condition. We'll also be able to take care of the numerous holes that were blown through the floorboard when the shifter was installed.

Moral of the story.. Go out and buy a scattershield. We are going to be fabricated scattershields to fit the ls1's with the th400's and 200r4's. A few hundred bucks is not worth risking a limb!

I've heard misshift... But doesn't matter what it was, you don't want this to happen without a scattershield!!!

we are going to be fabricating one for my ls1 car. I don't know if we'll go into production with it as a bolt-on, but in shop we'll definitely be doing them.

Obviously a shield is a good idea, but when would you put one on a car, what kind of power level? When is it required by NHRA?

It's super tight but it fits in there. It's SFI.
