TH400 guys: Which cooler are you using? Well, just like the title says, what coolers are you guys using? I've got a B&M 24000 that I used w/ my 4l60e, but I am wondering if I should get something a little bigger. I have a 4000 stall Hughes converter and a trans brake. Thanks fellas.

So, when you go Th400, are you able to just hook up the factory cooler lines from the old 4L60 right into the Th400? Are the connections and such the same? Or does this require changing anything?

The Bull
I use a Derale 16 pass cooler with a 10" fan and a inline thermometer for the fan. Temps are always perfect.
You can take the stock lines and put a b-nut on there with a flare if you want. But it's way easier to just replace it with two sections of -6 AN braided line.

Derty, what did your temps get up to normally crusing around, and what were they at after a run or two....
Mine are usually at 160-180 on the street, depending on how hot it is......recently on a really hot day it got up to 210 cruising, I have a big cooler, I'm thinking about putting a fan on it, I'm also thinking I might have a converter problem......
After each pass at the track the trans went from 180 to the 210-220 area.....

The Bull
Going from a 6 speed you just need to run some -6 lines. You don't have any factory cooler stuff to mess with.
On the street my trans never went above 190. In fact, it cooled so well that it takes a long time to really heat up. At the track it does about the same as well, climbs to about 190 at the end of a couple runs. I can sometimes hot lap it and not see any real temperature rise until the third pass or so. Needless to say, mine stays rather cool. When it gets cold here (in the 40's) I have a hard time even getting the temperature to go above 100. I drove it from my house on the freeway for about 20 miles and the temperature never really climbed at all until I let the car idle at a stop for a little bit.
