my review of the tci3000 street fighter
i just picked up the car today and really didnt drive it to much.
heres my impression, its not really loose at all. if a person didnt know how some aftermarket T/Cs feel like, they wouldnt even know its stalled.
the first time i gunned it off the line i wasnt impressed. that changed. maybe it needed some breaking in.
anyways, i figured i hit it one more time before i got home and no ****, it broke the tires loose(nittos). using this conveter on non drag radials wont be a good thing.
anybody who wants a almost stock feeling conveter that will give decent gains i would suggest this is the T/C that you want.
in a month or so when i go to the track, ill revive this post.
im guessing ill drop 3 tenths, maybe even 4
anybody looking for bigger gains and willing to have a loose conveter, this isnt for you.
this is for a person who wants a totally streetabilty and a almost stock feeling veter.

If you hook, it may surprise you at the track.
After you put a few hundred miles on it, how about another update? Impressions and even actual performance (the lockup clutch seats in which raises the stall speed a little bit) can change with mileage.

I have the same converter with no shift kit. Shifts were really soft until I upped the line pressure with edit. I cut 1.7 60's with this converter consistently. I agree that the converter feels like stock until you go to WOT

last nite i raced my buddys C-5.
when we would race off the line to about 100 he always inched me out.
his bumber would be at my door.
last nite i let him call 1-2-3 and off we went.
i beat him by 2 cars thanks to the new stall.
he drove my car also and didnt think it was loose at all.
he might also get a 3000 street fighter.

I didn't suffer any significant drop in mine, though
I do more of a city / highway mix.
If you enjoy it light to light then you will probably
suffer. But I find I can still keep up with traffic
at only 1500-2000RPM (damn old retired farts...).
Low slip = better mileage. If you can control the
urge.

Thanks for the update. I have a question. When you're farting around town, that's when it feels stock, and when you go WOT, that's when it lets the rpm's go up to 3k and locks tight? Is that right? Also, out of curiosity, would this TC be too much to deal w/ on street tires? I'm thinking about getting a really tight 2800 for mine, but have still not fully ruled out the 3k-3200.

I know most recommend getting a huge converter, but for first time around it's good to stick with a lower stall. I ran a Yank Y3200 for 3 years and picked up 4/10's wih just the converter and DR's. No loss of mpg either. You will need drag radials even with a small converter.

I had a real easy time smearing the F1s after the
converter. The 1-2 shift when it hits the converter
will spin them a lot while the stock converter would
only chirp them briefly. You have to adapt to it. My
new GS-D3s are much better but still will not hold
if I give it the whole pedal. And this is just a baby
converter compared to what most people tell you
to go with.

on street tires youre gonna fry them like no tomorrow.
the 2.2 1 str is a higher ratio than most veters which also gives for a tighter feel.

What are these Drag Radial tires you guys speak of, to get after TC upgrade? Are Drag Radials, useable in rain weather? What about the SLP TC, are they any good?

anything slp is overpriced and overrated

Nitto DRs are "ok" for rain so long as they're not worn badly. They ride great, handle great, are quiet, and have descent tread life considering how freakish sticky they are.
