Default Tranny Diagnosis..

My tranny in my car has just went to **** in the last month or so...I noticed that when I went full throttle at 65 down shifted and when it would up shift id have a lil hesistation. Thought it was possibly be low tranny fluid and checked it.Eveyrtihng is fine. The miss shift has been gettng worse and worse...and the other day down sfited at WOT at 65 and on the up shift it missed the gear completely and revd out 3 times hitting the rev limiter then found the gear. Now im getting a miss coming fmo a 25mph punch and then it will hit second bark it harder than normal when it hits. So what could be causes of the slip and what would it ball park cost me?

I have the same problem on the 4th to 2nd down shift, mine will usually down shift ok at 65mph but right around 70mph it will slip a little and sometimes hit the rev limiter, I think it does it at 70mph worse because that will be hitting near the top of 2nd gear and seems like it just can't hold the power(pretty much anything over 70 will only net you a weak *** 4th to 3rd down shift and you will loose that race lol) My car only has 15,000mi on it so I hope the tranny isn't cooked......

Sounds like it. Around $2700 to get it built to level 5 standards.

DAMN are you freakin serious! Its gonna cost that much to fix this sorry as 4l60e. I thought you could get a fully beefed up race ready for like 2g's!?

Like he said that is for a level 5 build up, and that is prolly not the best way to go if the car is driven on the streets alot. I'd imagine if the clich packs are burnt your tranny fluid will smell horrible. See if you can talk to some local guys here or other boards and see if they know a good place near you to have it looked at or rebuilt by them. Good luck!!!

Yup, it can be a very expensive hobby.

Seems like about a year or so ago, the FLP level 4's were around 2 G's.
I quit tracking that pricing when I went to level 5's.

Call Chuck and get the level 4 price, for a 2g budget. There are other lesser packages as well. I just went with the best setup, hoping to keep it together this time.

Yep, yep. That's it! Classic symptoms of the burnt 3/-4 clutch pack. Banging the rev limiter while the tranny is "hunting" is a dead giveaway. Smell your tranny fluid. Bet it'll have a burnt smell to it.

Prices are generally a little cheaper for labor in GA than they are here in VA/Wash DC area but I'd expect to drop about $1000 to $1200 for parts and labor to restore it to stock.

That being said, sounds like you drive yours pretty agressively. You should consider heavy duty clutch packs and replace all of them at the same time. Add a couple of hundred more $$$ but you'll get something that matches your style of driving.
