Default 400 turbo ?

ok I have read through what i think is all the 400 turbo info on here and I am confused. I have a 98 Z28 and I do not want to have a convertor made to fit the LS1. Can i just add a spacer ring off of a 4l80 truck to mount a standard 400 convertor to the LS1. Or is there more that I am missing. Thanks Scott

It's a good question and I'm not sure how to answer it. Part of the problem with a spacer is getting the pilot to mate into the crank correctly to center it up. I know that some of the trucks have a special adapter for this. But that pushes the flexplate out I believe. Which for our cars would be a problem with the starter. Let's see if anyone else has any recommendations on this.
