Default 4L60E Problems

Ok hear is the deal, First of the tranny is in a 03 GMC Sierra with a 5.3. The usual mods. Tranny is all stock with 60% TM removed. Everything is fine about the tranny EXEPT anytime that it downshifts into 2nd it hesitates almost like it is searching for the right rpm for that gear. It will go from lets say 1700 in overdrive to 4200rpm in 2nd for a sec. then it will jump up to lets say 5200 in second and pull like normal. It shift fine on 1-2 upshifts as well as every other gear. It also downshifts fine in everyother gear. Its only 2nd that is doing it. I talk to a few people and so far i have heard ( 2nd Gear silinoid, or somthing with the wiring harness) I was told that the silinoid was the most likely? Any info on this would be great, does anyone have any other ideas or has this happened to anyone? Thanks for your help

Are you gradually laying into the gas or slamming it to the floor?

Share the conditions (speed, throttle, road, etc) that you are creating this situation in, not just the symptoms. It's too hard to tell what's going on.

I would say something wrong with the down shift solenoid.

It will do it at any speed, anytime it downshifts into second when its to the floor. It dont matter up or down hill.

I have the same problem on my 4th to 2nd downshift. I seems to do it worse the higher I get to the top of 2nd...ex: when on the highway and I do WOT at about 70mph i'm hitting the top of second and it will do exactly what the orginal poster described. If I go WOT around 60-65 it will downshift smoother but not have quite the same SOTP feel as 70mph I believe because it's not as high into 2nd. Any thing over 70mph will only net me a crappy 4th to 3rd downshift and feel like a turd. 3:23's btw.
