Default 4L60E tranny fluid

I was wondering if it would be ok to switch my tranny fluid on my 99 z71 to amsoil synthetic tranny fluid without any problems.

I wouldn't think there would be any problems synthetic is the way to go. My truck has 160,000 on it and has never had the gear oil changed.

You won't have any problems. Just make sure you fully flush the entire transmission of the old ATF fluid. I am using Neo Synthetic transmission fluid in mine.

I would not recommend it. I have a level 4 trans from FLP, and Chuck stated that it is not a good idea to be running synthetic in the trans. I am a believer in synthetic as a general, (I run it in my motor) but not for a 4l60e.

The less friction the better for a motor - synthetic
Transmissions live off friction. non syn is the best way to go.
