Default installed 4L65E...got problems?

Swapped in a 4L65E for my 4L60E. It came from a 2002 Escalade and I converted the output shaft and tail to 2wd. All the hard part inside are FLP's and I used the Transgo performance shiftkit. Reverse works fine but when in drive, 3rd, or 2nd it only has 2nd gear. When I put it in 1st it seems to be in 2nd and 1st at the same time and will not move. I have checked 12 volt power to the solenoids and made sure none are stuck. The band is ok also. Checked the 1-2 shift valve, solenoid, check ball and springs. Gear selector is indicating correctly and scan tool is showing command for 1st when in drive. Anybody got any ideas what else to look for that might be giving me this problem?

Take out the valve body bolts in the center and compare them to the documentation in the TransGo kit. Chances are yuo've got one of the longer ones where it doesn't belong.

Thanks for the reply. Double checked that. Took the body down and put it back. Last year I had one do the same thing, it was defaulting to 2nd. Found out I had lost power to solenoids. That's not the case this time but it is defaulting to 2nd. Just don't know whats left to check.

Maybe the band is too tight. From the bottom you should be able to stick a screwdriver through the access port and wiggle the band front to rear. If it's too tight the apply pistons and pin will have to come out for assembly inspection. If some of the TransGo washers were installed into the bore they might be too much. Refer to TransGo doc for correct band play. Make sure you have a new cover seal first.

OK. Found my problem today. It was the wiring harness. It must have shorts between the pins. Swapped with the one from my 4L60E and the transmission works fine now. Gonna do a breakin for 50-100 miles and then off to the strip for some times on the stroker.
