Default Need some advice on a converter

Need some converter advice. The converter i've got is giving me problems so i'm pullin it and putting something better. I went light a year ago and put a 2800 Yanko, but i need more power b/c i'm gonna really start modifying my car more. I wanna know what converter i should go with and how big of a stahl? It's a 02 WS6 T/A ;besides the converter, i'm running a high lift cam,3.73 gear, headers etc dynoed just under 400 rwhp. i'm putting LS6 heads in 2 weeks. tell me what's best.
Thanks, Joe

Trade the Yank back in and get:
SS 4000: street & strip use. Should be able to get to high 1.5x - low 1.6x 60' depending upon mods and tractions and normal weight.
YTP 4200: Strip & street: loose on the street but awesome for all out performance. Same 60' target range as SS4000, but longer shift extension & higher efficency should run faster from 60' mark forward and great for racing from a roll.

Some days it's bad and some days it's working great, but the majority of the time i get problems. It feels like it lags;It slips. It dosen't stay consistent with shifts. For a lil while it was the programming, but now i think it's just the converter. I used to be a regular over at AP Engineering cuz i would have programming problems. I'm gona get some one else to look at my computor and see whats up.

the setup at the time was a stock 4l60e with the pt4200 and some tuning stuff as far as the trans. the engine was stock internals with full bolt ons and duals. badz rear suspension with KYB shocks and stock front suspension with KYB shocks and no front sway bar. 3.42 gears out back. car was SICK repeat SIIIICCCCCKKKKK with the pt4200. feel free to pm me or give me a call anytime and i'll tell ya all about it. and even some of the people that drove/raced my car can tell you their thoughts.

I'd go with a TCI 3800, or 4400. Just remember though a hard hitting converter with 400rwhp is going to eat a stock tranny up in no time.

My trans is the one thing i'm really worried about b/c right now i'm just below 400 at the rear without the LS6 heads i'm putting in. Would a 4000 stall really hammer my trans with the amount of horse i'm gona be pushing?

Sounds like your converter may be low on tranny fluid. Its a dumb question, but have you checked it lately?

alot of tranny builders will tell u to never use synthetic in your tranny....

food for thought.

I just switched to a VIG myself. For the time being, I'm sticking with a VIG 3200, 2.5 str (Actually stalls like 3600). 404rwhp cam only with Full bolt ons.

My TCI 3500 let go on me and the 2 year unconditional VIG waranty kinda assured me of a good quality, not to mention 1 free restall. Just food for thought.
