Default love my rock-on!

well i took the screen out of my mass airflow sensor and destroyed my stock tranny. after reading about peoples experiences with rock-on i decided to give them a call. well im so happy i did. got my car back last night and damn its like driving a whole new car! i live in cali so its not like rock on is local to me but if i had to do it again there is nowhere i would rather spend my hard earned money. even after getting screwed by my after market warranty and getting raped by my dealer for the install once i get in the camaro for a drive it all makes it worth it. i went with about a 4000 stall from precision industries and i love it so glad i didnt go smaller. much love to dave, matt and the people at rock-on for a pleasent experience and a bad *** tranny by far the greatest customer service i have experienced.

Sounds good!! Is this pretty much a track car with some limited street use...or the other way around?? What level did you go with?? I'm wondering if anyone builds a good tranny that can hold downshifts for street use. If it's a street car seeing some downshifts keep us updated on how it holds up. Thanks

Dave's base tranny build is basically a Stage 4 - his site lists others but needs to be updated as he stated he doesn't even bother building a tranny unless it is @ Stage 4 specs. All of his 4L60E tranny's use vacuum modulation instead of the stock electronic controls.

Go do about 40 passes at the track and then tell me how its doing. It doesnt seem like anyone here has tried that with a Rossler, FLP or Rock On. Everyone just gives up and goes TH400 or 350. I would really like to know if these trannys can last to some 1.5 60's on more than 10 or so passes.

I personally didn't buy a 30K car to turn into a drag car - I have other cars for that purpose.

The tranny in my TA had to be able to withstand 500hp+ at the flywheel with no problem on the street running 315/35-17 street tires - which the Rock-On does easily. Sure, I'll take it to the track a few times/yr but that's not it's primary purpose.

I dare say you will NOT get any better personalized customer service than from Dave/Matt @ Rock-On. Without going into great detail - I have never experienced the lengths that they went to take care of me from ANY vendor in my 28 years of building/racing cars. I truly felt that he cared as much for my car as I do.

In my book that rates just as high as the quality of the item

I will also say that they have the best customer service hands down. I love my tranny and it is daily driven plus trips out to the track cutting 1.55-1.6 short times.

I've put plenty of passes on my Rock On tranny and it's held up perfectly. Too bad my Yank converter f'ed it up.

How long have you had it in the car? How many track passes have you made with it? Did you get any tuning done after the new trans?

I have had the tranny in the car for probably 6 months now. I have probably 30 passes or so on it, with about 10 of those being n2o passes. It has about 4000 miles on it. I had only one problem with it, but that was caused by my Yank converter going out on a n2o pass. Dave was more than helpful in getting me fixed up regardless of what caused my problem. I did do a little tuning after the inital tranny install, but that is because the PY3600E went in at the same time. I just changed my lock up speeds and other stuff related to the higher stall. I would recommend Rock-On to anybody.

If anybody has any questions look for me out at the Thunder Shootout. I will be wearing the blue Rock-On t-shirt and my name is Chris. Look around for my car as well. It is a Silver '02 z28 with a Rock-On windshield banner. I will answer any questions possible and give you one of their business cards if you like.

Thanks for the input 1 Bad Gm. I have been looking for someone with this tranny that actually beats on it. It is time for a new tranny for me and I will prob go against my shops advice and get one of these highly recommended 4l60e's.

You will not be disappointed! Just out of curiousity, what kind of tranny did your shop want you to get?
