Default Help! I think I killed my trans or verter

I was at the track last night made a couple of nitrous passes. On the third pass the car hesitated real bad before it would shift in drive. It never hit the rev limiter though it was like the rpms stayed put for a second then it shifted. I finish that run get my ticket and notice that my trans want shift into 2nd until 4000rpm. Unless you let off the gas then it will go in gear. If you put it in 2nd and try to go the car want move until about 3600rpm. It almost feels like its in neutral. I havent pulled the pan off yet, but plan on it when I get home. Every other gear works and shifts fine. I dont think the verter is messed up, but I know something isnt right. Any clues or leads that I could start looking for. I have a feeling its time for a new trans. (HOPE NOT) I did look at the fluid at the track & it was still the normal color & didnt smell burnt. So any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Vann

Nobody know how much this cost to have fixed? Also will it hurt to drive it until I save up the money to have it fixed or buy a new trany?

I had my a4 rebuilt 3 months ago for $1800 with all the good stuff, tci 3200 stall $350, cooling rod deep pan $85. You will do a lot more damage by driving it though.
