how do you disconect the engine from trans

Question how do you disconect the engine from trans

I have the engine out of the car and engine on hoist and trans supported on ground and I have taken all the bolts around the parimeter of the trans and the level tube is out. I can't get the trans to come apart any this else that I need to do? thanks for any help

well assuming you have an auto, your gona need to seperate the torque converter from the flywheel.. hope that helps.

no well im the idiot, you posted in the "auto" section..

well depending on the make, there should be a way to get to the flywheel/torque converter through an opening in the bellhousing at the bottom.. usually held on by just a couple small bolts.. hope that helps.

When I was doing one, the metal pins had corroded to the housings. I got a hand winch and hooked it to the tranny and rear axle, and started cranking. At the same time we where hammering in screwdrivers between the two housings. And I sprayed WD-40 into the holes in the hopes of breaking it free.

Eventually worked. Good luck

thanks for all the help. I got the flywheel bolts undone then the pins were coroded and the wd40 worked great. great advice.
