what is the cheapest i can do?
I have a lt1 T/A and my transmission is gone, i have no choice but to get a new one or rebuilt, and i dont know anything about them. i want the cheapest thing possible, as fast as possible, even pick and pull, but i dont even know what to look for. i have been calling around and have been given quotes like $2500, $1600 which was the cheapest. if any body can help or knows somebody in san antonio, let me know.

There's at least one salvage yard sponsor on the right... Any 93-up f-body auto will work. Truck 4L60's are close...but I think there's a different connector or something (search and you'll see).

I dont know a lot, but from calling around and having big troubles in the past, I picked mine up from the gm dealer.L60E, I got it in a day, no shipping charge, the best warranty, (50,000 or 3 years $1601.00 with tax) and I dont think they would have a warranty so good if they didnt do all they say they do. The one that was in it, (I dont know how long) was a rebuilt by GM, it had over 67,000 sense I bought it and who knows when they put it in. (I bought it with 95,000 on it). There was also 7 new componets that they have upgraded due to failures in the past to upgrade the trans. Who knows better than the company that built your truck? If anything goes wrong they replace it in a day with no troubles. I never had no trans replaced cheap that lasted 3 days past the 3 or 6 month warranty and to pay twice would cost alot more than right the first time! Good luck, I know if your doing some fancy things to it then try some of the companies to the right, but if your stock they seemed to be the best bet. I know some shops open it up, tell you there going to rebuild it, rebuilding to some is just fixing whats broke, then you got other parts that will wear out on ya!

That's a very good suggestion. We opted for a Certified 4L60E on our 2001 SS when it went out, 3 year/36K mile warranty and a new converter for $1800 installed! It was done a day later.
