I have had a nagging clutch slippage problem from about
day 3. Some or all of it being my fault for putting B&M
Trick SHIfT fluid down it, but even so. This was my first
converter. Since getting it I've figured out for my style
of driving and current / upcoming mods I want something
with a higher stall speed, lower STR, higher efficiency and
or course a clutch I can pull a trailer with (not that I will,
but that kind of strong). I was moved to action by that
"other board" GP and ordered up a custom one built to my
"wish list". I've been having to keep upping line pressure to
get the clutch not to slip bad on the highway and that's
not something I can keep doing indefinitely. So this came
around at a good time.
Performance wise the TCI has been fine, but the 3000 seems
to "hold the motor down" just a little and the 2.2 STR is just
more than my street tires need. If you have taller gears or
better hooking tires than GS-D3s then the STR will help.
On 3.42s I just lose traction at 1/2 throttle; what help is
that? So I spec'd out something I think is more in line with
a traction-limited, power-limited low-mods car, and will see.

1.62 on worn out et streets.. 3000 stall, 150 shot with lid/cutout at the time only... with cam and spray and gear and headers, hoping for 1.55 60 times if the 10 bolt holds up.. however i may shortly afterwards upgrade the stall to 3500 to suit the all motor times a lil bit better.

It hits very hard. It will easily spin all makes of drag radials at just 1/2 throttle
just like the man said. Very streetable converter though. Just don't even think
of punching it at a red light!

Cool sounds good!
Anyone have the TCI 3500 and wished they went smaller?
I am still torn between the TCI 3000 2.2 STR and the TCI SSF 3500 with 2.5 STR. (I have 2.73s at the moment)

3800 and 2.73's- LOVE it, only thing i hate is the gas milage when it is unlocked
replied to pm also.
i had a 3500 and went bigger to the 3800, if i had any different gears (like 3.42 or 3.73) i'd went at least 4000 or 4200.
if the car is DAILY driven and not raced much i could see you wanting to go smaller though, for the gas milage factor alone. you have to be pretty well into the throttle for it to move, no ***** footing the car around anymore(ESPECIALLY with the 2.73's-)
forgot to mention- you will NEED drag radials with this converter. it hits pretty hard.

1.63 is quite good for that small converter. The gears probably helped a bit in that regard too.
Eventually I am going to be running DR's so I think the SF3000 would probably work best. (Car is a street car with very limited track use)
