Default i need a converter for a good sized cam, that wont kill my n2o or wallet

whats it going to be? running the f14, 232/234, if this was a n/a car only id have a 4000-4200 stall and 4.10s in the rear, but sinces its a nitrous car, and sees 1/4 mile action, i have resorted to 3.73's and i guess the idea of a 3500 converter.. my question is, would going to a 3800 or so, as long as i dind't run out of gear before end track, hurt my n2o times? i figure the higher i go the more nitrous tq im giving up down low.. has anyone been in this situation and got the best of both worlds?

The SS3600 is one great unit and will stand up to NOS as the turbine and pump has braced blades for high torque use as well as an extra HD clutch in 9.85 " dia. with a special lining and have been tested to 9500 rpm use
our price is $775.00 but their are some GP's at this time that offer lower pricing
call us for some names of dealers if you need.

yea but i need to run good times on motor.. i dont need a super stock or super street whatever.. i dont care how unstreetable it is for a 36000-3800 converter as long as i run teh quickest et's i can for spray and n/a, and 775 is breaking my wallet... im looking more in the price range of tci's 3500, maybe there 3800, maybe even possibly a vig, if i had the money id get a yank, but whos got teh money.

An el-cheapo converter won't cut it for you (aka. street TCIs). You are putting down too much HP sprayed. You need to invest around $700USD for a race type converter that can handle the HP grunt.

hmm... ya i was looking around.. so i may be getting a yank lol... but they got PE, PT's, and SS's, which is best for me? SUPER STOCK is not how the rest of the car feels, so im thinking i need a PE, or PT, i do not want to change this converter for as long as i have my transmission.

just out of curiousity, what is with some of them looking like they have 3 bolt things around them, and some having like 5 or 6...? also i need yank to come back in here and tell me with a ss3600 and 3.73's, are the shift extensions going to be like 4k on motor and 5500 on spray or some big gap there?

all of these are good with my aftermarket tci flexplate right??? i already broke the stock one, in half! , im not going back to anything else.

Looks with your mods shift ext. about 4400 na aprox 5300 no2
you might be talking about the mounting lugs 3 is stock and 6 is better for high torque use!
when you use the TCI flexplate remove all the paint from the converter mounting points as well as the crank surface as we have seen this too offen the bolts come loose as the paint erodes away and will destroy the converter and crank

maybe you need to talk to someone about making you a custom converter for your needs. I'm sure someone can help you out with that. But for most off the shelf converters you pretty much need to figure out what you want more....nitrous or N/A. JMO

i would go with a TCI 3800. I know TSP runs TCI converters and have no problems.

JP, the SS3600 will give you good NA times too. The one I had is now in Aaron's (BL96TA). I ran 12.3 w/stock manifolds, drag radials and 2.73 gears.

Aaron is running 12.2 right now with stock manifolds and about zero weight reduction. He was cutting 1.6 60's with the 28" tires. I look for that to be a little better with his new mods. He will easily have an 11 seccond Stock internal ride this summer.

TCI SSF3500 is what I got, runs great on & off the bottle. I think I paid $549 shipped to my house form SDPC (Sponsor)----------->
I went 12.003 with the mods in my sig, minus: the Rossler, LS6 intake, injectors, fuel pump, & LCA's. & 11.0's on a 100 shot. I dont think you would be disapointed in the verter.

Midwest Racing also sells some bad *** converters as well. They also carry a better price. The one thing they do that most do not not is a 2 year warranty, and a 2 year free stall upgrade. I run one in my 9 sec ta and love it. I have seen many people Switch to them with great success...Heck the guy that had the worlds fastest ls1 was using a midwest converter.....

i had poor performance issues on a Vig 3200 on spray

If you need a good deal, click on the link in my sig for the PYE3600 I have for sale.

I agree. The TCI SSF3500 is the way to go. There are a few guys at our local track running the TCI SSF that are running 10s on the bottle and mid 11 on the motor with no problems at all.
