Default Do i need a tranny?

Im getting ready to put a head and cam package on a 1999 trans am and was also going to spray about a 100-150 shot will my tranny take this or will it go? If i need it upgraded does anybody sell all the parts for a do it yourself job to beef it up? If so can you tell me where to get it and what those parts whould hold HP/Torque? Thanks!

it depends on wether its an a4 or an m6,if its auto you should definately look into a rebuild from a trans shop or any performance shop.they can build it up to withstand however much horsepower you want, unless your looking to make over 600hp then you should look into a turbo 400 . if its an m6 you should be able to be able to get away with a better clutch, but make sure you ge a new rear end it won't last long.

well ive had the stock tranny (A4) since it was built in 1999 i put converter and trans cooler in it and have been to the track a couple times with slicks and 100-150 shot and no problems yet. Im too scared to spray off the line still but im looking into a rebuild because i dont think ill get the times i want on a stock tranny in the future anyway
