Wiring for a TH400/TH350 swap...
I read Derty's article, but didn't see it in there. Tried to do a search too
I have a '99 Z28 that was an M6. What wires and where are gonna need to be messed with to get this thing to start. Thanks!
Reverse lights? Clutch engagement switch?
How can I go about this and make sure it's NHRA/IHRA legal?
Chris

the pro stick comes with the neutral switch and you can buy the microswitch for reverse lights if you want it.
on th stock NSS connector:
orange/black and Black/white are for the hatch release and letting the PCM know the car is in drive/reverse. No place to hook this up on an aftermarket shifter.
purple/white and DARK green are for the neutral safety switch.
brown and LIGHT green are for the reverse lights.

oops, didnt notice you had an M6 - my fault Most people usually ask about A4 wiring and I just ASSumed you had an A4 without reading.
You need to use the two wires from the clutch pedal switch and run them to the nuetral safety switch on the shifter, forget the colors but its the only two wire switch on the clutch pedal I think.
The reverse light switch/wires is down on the trans on a M6.
For some reason I thought you had an A4 car - sorry about that.

Reverse is on or off so don't matter. The clutch switch shouldn't matter either, but not exactly sure as I read a post where someone said it wouldn't start one way but would when he swapped it around. 2 wires on both so it should be a no-brainer once the wiring itself is run.

You would only have to run 1 small wire to the relay as the other side would be a ground. Reverse is very simple just have to extend the wiring a few inches and run it through a rubber grommet (or the old M6 shifter boot. )
On an A4 car though the proper way to do it would be to use a DPDT relay and hook up the orange/black on one N/C pole and the purple white/DK green on the other N/O pole and ground the relay with the NSS on the shifter. That way the car will start and the PCM will know if the car is in gear, the hatch release will work (and not work in gear like it was designed). That is if the relay is powered from something that doesnt turn off when the key is in the start position
