Unhappy Burn Out Prob...

Hey guys I have a newb question on a burnout i did today. I know how to do a burn out but when I got the tires spinning today for the first time in my new T/A it was like they would spin and catch then spin and catch so i didnt get a solid long black strip it was broken up. why is this, is it my fault or something else i thought maybe traction control and seeings how theres no switch to turn it off i guess i have to pull the fuse like i read? I did search this but came up with no similar probs.
Thanks, Jeff

I don't know about a '99 but I know from '00 on if you have traction control you have a button to disable it. I'm 95% sure it's like that on the previous years too. Behind your shifter is there a pocket about the size of a pack of cigarretts or is there a plate with a switch on it? It sounds like you might not have had the brake pedal totally planted. Try really stepping on the break pedal and put it to the floor and then start doing a burnout. If that doesn't work it's possible your front brakes are going south.

No fuse needs to be pulled on Fbodies. Perhaps you didn't have the tcs off.

You may or may not have TCS ( but i believe most if not all TAs came w/ it) as my 99 A4 Z didnt but if you got TCS then make sure its turned off or you could get a line-loc which makes for great

In this picture, the TCS is right next to the cigarette lighter right behind the shifter. That is for the Firebirds which is what you have. Camaro's have theirs up top near the vents.

nice lookin interior i like the guages..but i dont have that switch all i have is like a little slot for storage and then the lighter....does that mean i dont have tcs? i have a more troubleing problem now my service engine soon light is on, i think i mighta hit something when i was cleaning but nothing fell off or was loose. man i thought i could get away from these little probs by buying a new car but i guess not there everywhere, part of buying used i guess. i still love this car though!

Not my interior, I never took pics of my T/A interior. I have a camaro now. If you have an empty slot you guessed it, no TCS. Get the code scanned to see why your SES light is on.

Yea i think it mighta been wheel hop cause i tried it again last night with more brake and it didnt act funny, it still sounds find and drives fine the only major annoyance now is i have belt squeek. we put belt dressing on and it made a worse noise so we put some wd40 on and it made another noise so its got some squeek still. i need a new belt.
