Default SS3800 Owners

Just got the car back today. All I can say is damn what a difference. I stalled it to about 3000 and bam tires went up in smoke and left a 20ft patch of rubber behind. I'm heading to the track (Atco) on Saturday. On STREET tires, what is the best way to launch this thing? Should I keep her at 2000 RPM or less? I don't want my 60' to suffer (best was 2.0).

Also spoke with this one guy who has a 9 sec Malibu. He said becareful, or you'll blow your motor. I see alot of owners with higher stalls and not one has said that their motor blew. Is this guy tryin to blow smoke up my ***?

The converter is badass though. Now the loudmouth is really loud.

I have the SS3600 and the best way I have found to launch was stall it to 1600 and go 1/2 throttle out of the hole and then let her rip. I say this b/c even with BFG drags I still spin em if I go anymore. You will have to be very careful on street tires. As far as blowing the motor...I have never heard anything like that b/c of a stall

Yeah I figured I stalled it too high. I'll try 1500 and see how she leaves. These street tires suck. Yeah he had me stumped on the blown motor comment as well.

On a side note, the guys at TTPerformance did a great job hooking this up for me. I also took photos of some of the cars that they had at the shop. Great customer service and highly recommended!

My next set of tires will be the GSD3s, hopefully those will handle the converter better than my current set of shoes.

My brother has those kicks ( GSD3s ) and he can get 1.9XX 60' with 'em. His car is a light bolt-on. I know my SS3800 will light my crappy Summitomos up, if I even look funny at the throttle. I don' t even know how to try to launch this thing, at the track, with these tires. I knew it was going to be a bad deal, with out DRs, but, I wanna' know what it' ll do on the street. I think if you drive like how you are thinkin', and roll into the throttle, you might be good. I know if my tires aren' t warm, and I punch it, from a roll, at 45, it' ll put the car sideways when it downshifts into 2nd.
Sweet...

I have the same stall. Mine will only stall to 3000 on the street and at the track with M/T radials. It pulls 1.66-1.64 60' times. I am leaving at 3000 and smashing it but, I have tires. Next time at the track I am going to try around 1500 to 2000 launch. Good luck

What do you guys think about the motor blowing comment? Red01SS, already gave me his comment.

Yeah that puzzled me as well. He kept saying it's a stock motor. And that there's more converter than car there.

This guy told me one time that he had his torque management deleted, and he was running a 4400 stall, and that he blew his motor, does that make any sense to you guys. He said it was because he deleted his torque managment, I'm kinda new to the stall thing, so i was just like uh okay.

I wouldn't worry about blowing the motor, hell look how many m6's have made it through some horrible miss-shifts with nothing but some bent pushrods.

Be shure to update us on track results because I have a SS3800 waiting to be installed!

Its not the motor that would go though...its the tranny.

Yup. Torque Management is for the tranny only. It reduces torque, from the motor, when it exceeds the factory threshold, to help the tranny live longer. Correct me if I' m wrong...

Launching the 3800 is going to be very tricky at the track. Just do a mini burnout to clean the tires off after driving AROUND the water box and launch the same way you would on the street. Just keep the rpms around 1500 and half throttle it like Red 01SS said and when you get enough momentum going, floor it.

Can't go around the waterbox at Atco. They have it right at the entrance after the staging lanes.

Also for you guys with this converter, does your tranny whine now? Going in reverse (whine) and in gear (whine). I'm guessing it's the turbine spinning inside but damn I can hear it in the car. Sounds like a stick shift.

Also at the track, should I leave the shifter in 3rd (D) or 4th (OD). I will put the shifter in 1st when I do the burnout though.

ST3800 here and I stall to about 3400-3500 RPM's on launch and pull 1.68 60' with my little 2.73 rear and first time using BFG's. I pulled 1.70 on nittos
