Default Tranny won't shift

Recently dropped the motor and tranny. Put a trans go shift kit in the tranny and bolted the new motor and tranny in and now when I go to put the car in gear, nothing! The shifter moves but the cable under the car doesn't move the linkage when I move the shifter. What could have happened?

The linkage is adjustable. The part of the linkage the cable attached to sildes inside of the part that attaches to the selector arm on the trans. A white piece of plastic with gear teeth locks into place held by a metal clip. If the clip of the tooted piece is missing it will just slide.

found the problem. There is a plastic piece that is located were the cable assembly enters the interior of the vehicle that is broken. Will just have to order a shifter cable assembly.
