Converters in different trans
Ok..well as of a few days ago I had my mind set on switching cars to a 6-speed. I was tired of the 4L60E. But, this is my last resort not to get rid of my car. I know some pretty well known companys make 200R4-700R4 conversions. Well my question is I have a VIg 4000 converter, and was going to order on of those. Will my converter fit any any of those, and if not do I have to sell it or do you think Vig could re-fab it for me??
Also, what is the difference in 200R4 and a 700R4?? Im not to knowlegable on trannys in general, so Im lost when it comes to these two. Oh I will be spraying...head/cam package too. With a built motor, so the motor will be wound up high..thanks

Since you have an LS1 4L60E, it will not work in any other transmission. The TH700-R4 is similar, but the input shaft is different. The 200-4R is a toitally different beast and was designed for BOP (Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac) engines. The gear ratios are similar to a TH350, but with a .62 overdrive. Your best bet is to sell that converter and get one that will fit your application.

Yeah, I figured that..I just got of the phone with rossler...I tried to come up with the best worse case senaro so he would recomend a Th350. The reason for this is so i could then sell my car and get a 6-speed, because I dont want to lose OD..but hell no..he recomend a 4L60E..i was shocked...so I am now going to go with a rossler 4L60E...Im pretty happy because i wanted to keep my car, just didnt want to lose od...so we will try this...thanks Flame for your responce

The 4L60E can be made to hold quite a bit of power. The gear ratios of the 4L60E are 3.06 - 1.63 - 1.00 - .070. For the 2004R 2.74 - 1.57 - 1.00 - .067. I have many 4L60E's that are running 11's thru low 10's that are holding up just fine, if I can be of help, let me know?
