Transmission cooler bypass stock radiator?
How many guys bypassed the stock radiator cooler and just run the aftermarket cooler? Any real advantages or disadvantages?

I'm running just the aftermarket cooler. I originially had the lines running through the stock cooler and the aftermarket cooler. I was seeing 180* tranny temps in 40* winter weather. Since I switched the lines to run through just the aftermarket cooler, I'm seeing 180*-190* in 90* summer heat.

I agree, if you live on the Arctic Circle, keep the radiator in the loop, since its function is to warm the fluid to radiator temps. If you live a little closer to the equator (such as the U.S.) take it out of the loop, since its function is to warm the fluid. Think about it, do you want your fluid to run at radiator temps? If so, keep it in.

Awesome, I think I will bypass the stock cooler in the radiator then. How did you guys bypass the radiator? Did you use that converter thing with the female and male threads on it that came with the cooler or did you just cute the metal line and slide the rubber hose over it and clamp it?

Im just running an external cooler on my'n...I dont have a temp guage to monitor temps so i dont know if there is any difference on my car..One thing to remember, when you bypass the radiator you eliminate the chance of ever having coolant mix with your transmission fluid. Which is one of the reasons why i would rather just run an external cooler...

Yes you can do this. There is not a lot of pressure in the tranny lines. If you do CUT the metal lines just be sure to flare the ends with a flaring tool. I simply unbolted the lines off of the radiator and slid the nut back, since the factory lines are flared where they go into the radiator.
