Question trans shifting questions

Everyonce in a while, my trans shifts later at part-throttle. Normally, at part-throttle, the shifts are right around 2000rpm. Occasionally it will hold each shift to 2500-2700. There's no variation either, all shifts are either at 2000rpm, or all are at 2500, etc. If it does it, it seems to do it that entire ride, then if I park it, and go into a store or something, it doesn't do it after. At WOT it shifts perfect.

Its a 2001 WS6, A4, about 65k on the clock. I'm doing a trans flush and filter this weekend or next, depending on when I have the time. Possibly that could clear it up, or i'm I looking at something much worse?

Had one guy tell me something about a alternate, "performance shift" mode thats in the pcm, thats activated based on your driving habits. I know the early 4th gens had it, even had a button to turn it on or off, but I never heard of the later LS1's having it.

If the trans is going, I would think the shifts rpm points would start varying. Thats what started to happen in my old TA with the 700r4. It would shift at all different points, and usually much higher in the rpm range.

Thanks,

Matt
